# Federated Messenger
Secure, decentralized messaging on the Matrix protocol, powered by Element + Synapse.
## Features
- End-to-end encrypted DMs and rooms
- Voice and video calls
- Federation with other Matrix homeservers
- Spaces (grouped rooms)
- Cross-signing and device verification
## Packaging
All-in-one build: the Element web client, a Synapse homeserver, and PostgreSQL run under one process supervisor on a persistent volume. The Element client alone would be a trivial static app, but it is not self-contained without a homeserver — so this build bundles Synapse. No external database addon is required.
