Restaurant POS (Back-Office) is a app in the osFoundry community catalog. Java POS for restaurants + cafés — menu management, table/order entry, kitchen tickets, end-of-shift reports, multi-user. An open replacement for Aloha / Micros / Revel (back-office tier). Powered by Floreant POS. Streamed in your browser via KasmVNC. Uses Apache Derby embedded DB (single container, no external DB needed). Data persists under /config.
**Hardware caveat:** receipt printers, cash drawers, barcode scanners, customer-facing displays, and other USB POS peripherals do NOT work over the remote-desktop stream. Suitable for menu / inventory / staff / reports configuration and back-office tasks; NOT for live front-of-house transactions on this deployment.

# Restaurant POS (Back-Office)
Native Floreant POS inside a streamed KasmVNC desktop.
## Version
Floreant POS **2.0 build 2001** — bundled in the image (no apt package). Apache Derby embedded DB ships with the app, so no external MySQL is needed for the default install.
## First-launch login
Default admin PIN is **`1111`** — **change immediately** after first login (Manager → Users).
## Hardware caveat
Floreant talks to USB receipt printers, cash drawers, barcode scanners, customer-facing displays via OS-level peripheral access. Streaming over KasmVNC removes that local-hardware path — these devices won't work on this deployment.

Do NOT use this deployment for:
- Live front-of-house POS transactions (use a local Floreant install for that)
## Storage
Derby DB + Floreant config live under `/config/.floreantpos/`. 5 GB volume.
