# Snapshot Backup (GUI)
Desktop GUI for BorgBackup, powered by Vorta.
## How it runs
Vorta is a Qt desktop app — there's no web build. Streamed via KasmVNC; natively preferred (Vorta backs up *your* desktop — typically you run it on the machine you're backing up).
## Features
- BorgBackup engine (deduplication + AES-256 + zstd compression)
- Profile-based config (one profile per backup target)
- Local + SSH/SFTP + borgbase + rsync.net + your-own-server destinations
- Restore individual files (mount archive read-only) or full directory tree
- Prune policies (keep N daily / weekly / monthly)
- Scheduling + system tray
- Notifications + logs
## Why this is unusual as a room app
Vorta runs locally — it backs up the host's filesystem. In the streamed sandbox, it can only see the sandbox's own filesystem (mounted from `/data`). For backing up **your** machine, install the **native osFoundry desktop client + Vorta** directly.
This room app is useful for: backing up files placed on `/data`, managing a remote borg repository, or browsing archives.
