# Voice Chat (Low-latency)
Low-latency voice chat server (Murmur), powered by Mumble.
## How it works
Mumble is **server + clients**. This room app runs the **server (Murmur)**. Your users install the **Mumble desktop client** (Windows / macOS / Linux / iOS / Android) and connect to your server at port 64738.
## Features
- Sub-50ms voice latency under good network conditions
- Channels + sub-channels + access control lists
- Positional audio (gaming + simulators)
- TLS-encrypted by default
- Push-to-talk + voice activation
- Recording (server-side or client-side)
- 20-50 users per server on modest hardware
## Port note
The upstream Mumble port is 64738 (both TCP control + UDP voice). Container infrastructure with TCP-only ports drops the UDP voice path; performance is degraded vs native deployment. For serious low-latency use, deploy Mumble on a host with UDP ingress.
## Packaging
Thin wrapper around `mumblevoip/mumble-server:latest`. Config + cert + SQLite DB at `/data`.
