osFoundry / Platform
Web IDE
A full Monaco workspace — multi-file editing, search, terminal, debugger. Works anywhere.
What it is
The Web IDE is a full code workspace built on Monaco — the same editor engine that powers VS Code — running inside osFoundry. You get multi-file editing with syntax highlighting, project-wide search, an integrated terminal, and a debugger, without installing a separate toolchain or leaving your AI workspace. Because it runs in the same desktop app as your chat, agents, apps, and knowledge, code and the context around it live in one place instead of being scattered across tabs and tools.
Inside osFoundry, the IDE sits next to the agent loop, so the same environment you read and edit code in is the one your agents can act on. Files, terminal, and search are shared context: you can open a project, run commands in the terminal, step through code in the debugger, and hand the same working tree to an AI model — all without exporting anything or switching windows. osFoundry is bring-your-own-key, so any model you point at your code runs on your own API keys with no reseller markup, and because the workspace is local-first, your source and terminal sessions can stay on your device rather than being shipped to a vendor backend.
"Works anywhere" is literal here: the editor is browser-grade Monaco, so it renders and behaves consistently across the desktop app regardless of machine, and you don't need a heavyweight native install to open a project, search it, run a terminal, or debug. It's the Code & Build surface of a workspace that also holds your agents, apps, data, and knowledge, so moving from writing code to running it to asking a model about it is a matter of switching panels, not tools.
Key capabilities
- Multi-file editing on the Monaco engine (the editor behind VS Code) with syntax highlighting and familiar keybindings
- Project-wide search to find and navigate across every file in the workspace
- Integrated terminal for running commands, builds, and scripts without leaving the editor
- Built-in debugger for stepping through code, inspecting state, and setting breakpoints
- Runs inside osFoundry alongside chat, agents, apps, and knowledge — with BYOK models on your own keys and a local-first working tree
Use cases
- Developer: opens a multi-file project, searches across it, runs the build in the integrated terminal, and steps through a failing function in the debugger — all in one panel
- AI-assisted builder: edits code in the Web IDE and hands the same working tree to a BYOK model in the same workspace, so the agent acts on exactly what's on screen
- Privacy-conscious engineer: keeps source and terminal sessions local-first on their own device while still using cloud or self-hosted models via their own API keys
Frequently asked questions
Is the Web IDE based on VS Code?
It's built on Monaco, the open-source editor engine that also powers VS Code, so you get the same core editing experience — syntax highlighting, multi-file editing, and familiar keybindings — inside osFoundry. It's a Monaco-based workspace with an integrated terminal and debugger, not a VS Code fork.
Can I run terminal commands and debug, or is it just an editor?
Both. Alongside multi-file editing and project-wide search, the IDE includes an integrated terminal for running commands, builds, and scripts, plus a debugger for stepping through code and inspecting state. It's a full workspace, not just a text editor.
Where does my code run and what happens to my data?
osFoundry is local-first, so your source and terminal sessions can stay on your device rather than being sent to a vendor backend. Any AI model you use against your code is bring-your-own-key, running on your own API credentials with no reseller markup.
