osFoundry / Platform
Members
Invite teammates with roles — owner, admin, editor, viewer. Custom roles supported.
What it is
Members is how you turn a personal osFoundry workspace into a shared one. You invite teammates and assign each person a role that decides what they can do: owner has full control, admin manages people and settings, editor can create and change work, and viewer can look but not alter. When those four levels don't map cleanly to how your team actually works, you can define custom roles instead of forcing everyone into a preset.
Because osFoundry is a bring-your-own-key desktop workspace, membership works differently than a typical seat-based SaaS. There is no per-seat fee for adding people — you pay your model providers directly for the AI work that gets done, not a monthly charge per head. Roles govern access to the shared parts of the workspace (chats and agents, apps, code, knowledge and data) so an editor and a viewer see the same workspace but have different power over it, and an admin can adjust who belongs and what they can reach.
This matters most as a workspace grows past one person. Roles keep sensitive or in-progress work from being changed by someone who only needs to read it, give admins a clear place to manage the roster, and let owners stay in control of the account. Custom roles mean you are not stuck approximating your org with four fixed labels — you shape access to fit the team you actually have.
Key capabilities
- Invite teammates into a shared workspace by role instead of handing everyone the same access
- Four built-in roles — owner, admin, editor, viewer — covering full control down to read-only
- Custom roles let you define access levels beyond the four defaults when they don't fit your team
- Admins manage the roster and settings; owners keep ultimate control of the account
- No per-seat fees — you add members freely and pay providers directly for AI usage (BYOK)
Use cases
- Startup founder: adds two engineers as editors and an advisor as viewer, keeping settings owner-only
- Ops lead: creates a custom role for contractors that can use apps but not change workspace configuration
- Team admin: onboards new hires as viewers first, then promotes them to editor once they're ramped up
Frequently asked questions
What are the difference between the owner, admin, editor, and viewer roles?
Owner has full control of the workspace and account. Admin manages members and settings but sits under the owner. Editor can create and change work in the workspace. Viewer has read-only access — they can see the workspace but not alter it.
Can I create custom roles?
Yes. When the four built-in roles don't match how your team works, you can define custom roles to set access levels that fit your organization instead of forcing people into a preset.
Does adding members cost a per-seat fee?
No. osFoundry is a bring-your-own-key desktop workspace with no per-seat pricing. You invite teammates without a per-head charge and pay your own model providers directly for the AI usage they generate.
