Workspace-wide search
A single search across notes, code, KBs, chats, records and memories.
What it is
Workspace-wide search in osFoundry gives you a single search bar over everything you keep in the workspace: notes, code, knowledge bases, chat history, records, and the memories your agents accumulate. Instead of remembering which app or which conversation something lived in, you type what you're looking for and search spans all of it at once. It is built for the reality that your work is scattered across formats — a decision buried in a chat thread, a config value in a code file, a fact stored in a knowledge base, a row in a records table — and you should not have to hunt through each one separately.
Because osFoundry is a local-first desktop workspace, search runs against data that can stay on your device rather than being shipped to a third-party index you don't control. That matters for two reasons: results come back without a round trip to someone else's server, and sensitive material — client notes, proprietary code, internal records — is searchable without leaving your machine. The same BYOK model that runs the rest of the workspace applies here: you bring your own keys, there's no reseller markup, and search is part of the workspace you already run, not a metered add-on.
Practically, this collapses the "where did I put that" problem. One query surfaces the note you wrote, the chat where you discussed it, the code that implements it, and the record that tracks it, so you can move from finding to acting without switching tools. There are no per-seat fees gating who on your side can use it, and because it's one workspace rather than a stack of disconnected apps, the thing you search is the same thing your chat, agents, apps, code, and data all operate on.
Key capabilities
- Search notes, code, knowledge bases, chats, records and agent memories from a single bar
- Runs local-first against data that can stay on your device — no third-party index you don't control
- Jump straight from a result to the note, chat, code file or record it lives in
- Part of your BYOK workspace: no reseller markup, no per-seat fees, no metered search add-on
- One workspace means search covers the same content your chat, agents, apps and data already use
Use cases
- Developer: find every place a config value or function appears across code, notes and the chat where it was decided
- Researcher: pull back a fact from a knowledge base plus the conversation and notes that reference it, in one query
- Consultant: search sensitive client records and notes locally without exposing them to an external search service
Frequently asked questions
What content does workspace-wide search cover?
It searches across notes, code, knowledge bases, chat history, records, and the memories your agents build up — all from a single search bar, so you don't have to search each app or conversation on its own.
Is my data sent to a cloud search service?
osFoundry is local-first, so search runs against data that can stay on your device rather than a third-party index you don't control. Sensitive notes, code, and records stay searchable without leaving your machine.
Does search cost extra or charge per seat?
No. Search is part of the workspace you already run under the BYOK model — you bring your own keys with no reseller markup, and there are no per-seat fees, so everyone on your side can use it.
