# Smart Home Hub
Open-source smart home automation, powered by Home Assistant Core.

## ⚠️ Hardware integrations require an on-prem agent
This cloud container can talk to **network-based devices** (smart bulbs with HTTP/MQTT APIs, IP cameras, network thermostats). For **USB-based** integrations — Zigbee, Z-Wave, Matter (Thread) — you need a USB dongle physically plugged into a host running a remote-radio bridge (e.g. zigbee2mqtt + a USB stick). The bridge talks to this container over MQTT.
## Packaging
Thin wrapper around the official `homeassistant/home-assistant` Container image. Config + database live on `/config` (the upstream image's canonical config path). First-run onboarding at `/` walks you through admin + initial integrations.
