What is Usage-based Pricing?
Usage-based pricing charges customers in proportion to what they actually consume — per query, per GB, per second of compute — instead of a flat per-seat fee. osFoundry is purely usage-based: no seats, no tiers, no upsells.
Detail
Per-seat pricing is simple to budget but unfair to users with uneven usage — light users overpay; heavy users underpay until the vendor raises the seat price. Usage-based aligns cost with value: you pay for what you use, nothing more.
Usage-based AI tools also encourage experimentation — there’s no per-user fee deterring teams from inviting collaborators.
How osFoundry approaches Usage-based Pricing
osFoundry’s billing is per-second compute, per-GB-day storage, per-million function invocations. Cloud BYOK is at provider pricing with zero markup. Local inference is free.
